AQHA Waives 2020 World Show Qualification

The AQHA Executive Committee waives world show qualification for upcoming 2020 AQHA world championship shows. The American Quarter Horse Association world championship shows are the most prestigious events in the equine industry. Due to the rapidly evolving pandemic worldwide, exhibitors are facing several challenges to get qualified for the 2020 AQHA world championship shows. The safety of AQHA exhibitors, spectators and staff is the Association’s top priority. Therefore, the AQHA Executive Committee has waived qualification for the following 2020 world championship shows: Built Ford Tough AQHYA World Championship Show  July 30 - August 8 in Oklahoma City AQHA Select World Championship Show ,

AQHA Cancels Nutrena AQHA Level 1 Championships

AQHA cancels the three Nutrena AQHA Level 1 Championships set for this spring for the safety of exhibitors, spectators and AQHA staff. The American Quarter Horse Association has made the decision to cancel the three Nutrena AQHA Level 1 Championships, which were scheduled for April and May, and will not reschedule the shows. The shows are the Nutrena Central AQHA Level 1 Championships, April 8-11, at OKC Fairgrounds in Oklahoma City; Nutrena West AQHA Level 1 Championships, April 15-19, at the South Point Arena & Equestrian Center in Las Vegas; and Nutrena East AQHA Level 1 Championships, April 29 - May 3, at the World Equestrian Center in Wilmington, Ohio. OMIQHA Spring Warm Up Show Recap

After 3 years of having Youth and Amateur classes only, OMIQHA was able to obtain a full complete showbill for our first show of the year. We had an awesome first show of the year despite lower that normal stall sales, but those that came really came to show with just about a thousand entries for the weekend. We had alot of new individuals showing at this show, we had a couple groups come down from New York state and several from Michigan, a few from Indiana, Pennsylvania, and from all corners of Ohio.  I want to thank all those that make our show what it is, we had a great arena crew, announcer, and show office crew. With our first show at a new facility and date for us, this gave us a few growing pains, but we overcame them and moved

2020 AQHA Convention Cancelled

The American Quarter Horse Association cancels the 2020 AQHA Convention, due to rapidly escalating health concerns related to the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). The American Quarter Horse Association has cancelled the 2020 AQHA Convention, due to coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns. The convention was originally scheduled for March 13-16 at the South Point Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Bill Coffman Passes

William "Bill" Paul Coffman, 76 years of age, and a former resident of Marion, Ohio, passed away Monday, February 24, 2020, at O'Neill Healthcare in Bay Village. He was born September 12, 1943, in Marion, Ohio where he graduated from Marion Harding High School in the class of 1961. After high school, Bill went on to pursue his genuine love of horses with a 60 year career in the horse business. Bill was a nationally recognized horseman and judge. He trained and showed numerous Congress and World Show champions. Along with his own family, Bill's horses and the Quarter Horse community that he knew and loved were his passion throughout his life. Survivors include his daughters Kelly Coffman (Rex Reeser) and Karie Coffman

OQHYA ANNUAL MEETING

    The OQHYA annual meeting took place this past Saturday. A group of more than 50 youth members joined to recap this past years accomplishments, plan for future events and work on community service projects. New OQHYA officers and directors were introduced. Members brainstormed potential fundraising opportunities and community service events, as well as discussing the new AQHA theme. Important dates involving OQHA, NYATT, and Youth World were noted. Before the meeting adjourned, members assembled twelve blankets to be sent to a local children's hospital.  Ten new members were welcomed to the meeting. 52 total youth members were in attendance.
