Southern Belle Breeder’s Classes Added to the NEW A Sudden Impulse NSBA & Futurity Show
The Ohio Quarter Horse Association (OQHA) is excited to announce the addition of the new A Sudden Impulse NSBA & Futurity show to the Southern Belle Breeders’ program. Entries are now open for the A Sudden Impulse NSBA and Futurity, which takes place April 23-May 1, 2021 at the new World Equestrian Center - Ocala. A Sudden Impulse NSBA and Futurity horse show is managed by Peak-Equine Productions and sanctioned by the National Snaffle Bit Association (NSBA). It will feature more than 160 classes in 16 divisions, along with more than $360,000 in added prize money. Congratulations to our 2020 NOQHA Queen, Jessica Crozier. Jessica was the recipient of Miss Congeniality at the 2019 All American Quarter Horse Congress Queen Contest. We wish her the best of luck this year! The NOQHA 2020 shows will be held at the Findlay Western Farm, Findlay, Ohio. The Spring Extravaganza Show is May 22-24, 2020, judges are Jeff Allen, Larry Hansch, Jan Hoskins, and Nancy Sue Ryan. The Level 1 show will follow on May 25 with Mark Watkins as judge. The Summer Six Pack is June 18 -21, 2020 with judges Christa Baldwin, Kelly Chapman, Tim Finkenbinder, Dean Bogart, Tanya Green, and Rhonda Replogle. Bill Coffman Passes
William "Bill" Paul Coffman, 76 years of age, and a former resident of Marion, Ohio, passed away Monday, February 24, 2020, at O'Neill Healthcare in Bay Village. He was born September 12, 1943, in Marion, Ohio where he graduated from Marion Harding High School in the class of 1961. After high school, Bill went on to pursue his genuine love of horses with a 60 year career in the horse business. Bill was a nationally recognized horseman and judge. He trained and showed numerous Congress and World Show champions. Along with his own family, Bill's horses and the Quarter Horse community that he knew and loved were his passion throughout his life. Survivors include his daughters Kelly Coffman (Rex Reeser) and Karie Coffman

Ted Handel Passes
The Ohio Quarter Horse Association is saddened to announce the sudden passing of Ted Handel. Ted was a director of the Ohio Quarter Horse Association and a long time Congress supporter and friend. Ted will be dearly missed. Prayers to his family, especially his wife Judi. A memorial service celebrating the life of Arthur Theodore “Ted” Handel, Jr., age 73, of Mt. Perry, will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, February 7, at The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, with Pastor Jeff Gill, officiating. 2019 Awards Banquet In the Books
The 2019 Ohio Quarter Horse Awards Banquet held on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at the Hilton Downtown Columbus was bigger than ever! The banquet room was packed with more than 480 in attendance and awards presented to the 2019 OQHA award winners. Alexis Taylor, 2019 OQHA Queen, kicked off the night welcoming guests and inviting OQHA Director, Justin Billings and the 2019 Congress Queen, Mariah Sherer, to the stage lead the attendees in an invocation before dinner. OQHA NYATT TAKES HOME THE WIN
The National Youth Activity Team Tournament (NYATT) brings together youth equestrians from Quarter Horse affiliates across the United States and Canada. Divided into two divisions, this year’s Congress tournament hosted 52 teams. The tournament allows a team to send two exhibitors in each of the offered classes: Showmanship, Hunter Under Saddle, Hunt Seat Equitation, Western Pleasure, Western Horsemanship, Reining, and Barrels. The Ohio Quarter Horse Association team placed very well, taking home 1 st place in Division I! Individual placings include: Barrels: Maggie Cain and WESTWARD MEMORIES, 4 th Place. Largest EOQHA Show to Date
Exhibitors enjoyed a fun and successful show this past weekend at the Ohio Expo Center, hosted by Eastern Ohio Quarter Horse Association. The final EOQHA show of the year, and the largest EOQHA show to date, featured 4 sets of points and over 1,300 exhibitors per judge! There were 206 trail entries, 180 showmanship entries, 169 horsemanship entries, and split classes in hunter under saddle and western pleasure. The show ran smoothly under the EOQHA board of directors and show manager Casey Devitt. The show was AQHA and NSBA points approved as well.
