The American Quarter Horse Association

It’s show time! Well, almost … The 2016 Built Ford Tough AQHYA World Championship Show kicks off August 5, and AQHA is so excited for you to be a part of this year’s show.

Before you hit the road for Oklahoma City, take a look at these 13 reminders:

  1. Visit the Ford Youth World homepage. There you'll be able to view working orders and the most current tentative schedule.
  2. Pack your paperwork. To get onto the show grounds, you’ll need Coggins, health papers, a copy of your horse’s registration certificate and your membership card.
  3. Start getting show updates sent straight to your phone. AQHA will send informational text messages about special events, schedule changes and more. To enroll, text the word SUBSCRIBE to 806-576-0913.
  4. Check with your youth adviser to make sure your team is ready for the Parade of Teams on Sunday, August 7, after the stake race prelims in the Jim Norick Arena.
  5. Mark your calendar for Tuesday, August 9 – the fashion show, pin exchange and dance is from 7 to 10:30 p.m. in the Sales Pavilion.
  6. Get excited about the Exhibitor Party. It's from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on August 12 in the Jim Norick Arena. Bring your pooch for the dog race and dog costume contest, starting at 6 p.m. Enjoy a sweet treat while mingling with friends, compete in the B&W Trailer Hitch contest and enter the dummy roping contest for $5. Seriously, this party is going to be awesome.
  7. Know your options to get questions answered. You can ask class-related questions at the Nutrena Ride the Pattern clinics or head to the Ask a Pro Help Desk in the Super Barn. At the Ask a Pro desk, AQHA Professional Horsemen are available to answer exhibitors’ questions.
  8. Be on the lookout for riding schedules. Designated riding times for your class and an exercise schedule will be posted at each arena. Extra copies will be available in the show office, too.
  9. Start your game plan to pick up all of these great gifts. You'll want to stop by the Farnam booth to guess the number of SuperMasks for a chance to win a saddle! Sign up for the second annual SmartPak Scavenger Hunt – it's at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, August 10. Stop by the Cavender’s booth to check out the official hat of AQHA, Master Hatters collection. And for your free pair of Wrangler jeans, this year you'll use the card in your exhibitor packet to redeem the jeans online. (There will be no jean pick-up at the show.)
  10. Tell your friends and family to check out the free webcast, sponsored by Nationwide Insurance and hosted by Equine Promotion, on the Ford Youth World homepage. You can purchase DVDs and YouTube uploads of your run from the show videographer, Equine Promotion. And don’t forget the $5 coupon, which you can pick up in the show office.
  11. Book your golf cart rental. Rent from Metro Golf Cars and receive $10 off your official golf car permit! Call 800-772-6507 go to for additional info.
