Connect with us on Facebook! The Ohio Quarter Horse Youth Association is a division of OQHA just for members 18 years old and under. OQHYA members can participate in shows and compete for a spot on Ohio’s AQHYA World Championship Show Team and Congress National Youth Activity Team Tournament team, as well as earn points toward year-end awards. OQHYA offers Judging, Hippology, Horse Bowl, and Speech teams for Youth members that look to broaden their skills and knowledge. Youth members are even eligible to receive scholarships! In Memory of Casey Devitt
California native Casey Dallas Devitt, 66 of Harrodsburg, Kentucky, husband of April “Claus” Devitt, passed away suddenly on Friday, December 5, 2025 in Oklahoma City. He was born in Riverside, California on April 12, 1959, to the late Dallas Royce Clark and Marilyn Carruthers Devitt. Casey was a respected judge (AQHA, APHA, NSBA, and WCHA) who officiated at many of the nation's premier horse shows, including the AQHA Open and Amateur World Championship Show, the AQHA Select Amateur World Championship Show, the NSBA World Championship Show, the APHA World Championship Show and the All-American Quarter Horse Congress. OQHA is proud to share the induction of OQHA Past President and Congress Tri-Chairman Chris Cecil Darnell into the National Snaffle Bit Association Hall of Fame . In addition to Chris Cecil Darnell’s experience as a horse show exhibitor and with her family’s Cecil Breeding Farm, Chris has volunteered her time at the regional, state and national level for many years. She is a past president, officer and board member of Northern Ohio Quarter Horse Association ; president, first vice president, Congress Tri-Chairman and Executive Committee member with Ohio Quarter Horse Association, and has assisted with numerous additions to the Congress including Ranch, Level 1 Amateur Select, EWD, and Small Fry division

In Memory of Ron McCarty
Ohio Quarter Horse Association is saddened to share the passing of OQHA Honorary Director, Ron McCarty. Ron served as a Director from 1988 to 2012, when he was elevated to Honorary Director. Ron also served as 2nd Vice President in 1991, 1992, and 1995. Ron will always be remembered by the Association for his dedication, work ethic, and fun-loving spirit at OQHA events and the All American Quarter Horse Congress. Each year, the Ohio Quarter Horse Association approves shows around Ohio to count toward year-end awards, Ohio’s NYATT team and Ohio’s Youth World Show team. OQHA Point Season OQHA’s point season for year-end awards is February 15th through September 30th of each year. OQHF Crisis Fund
The Ohio Quarter Horse Foundation’s Crisis Fund assists those affected by sudden and demonstrable hardship, disaster or serious physical illness based on proven financial need. To be eligible for assistance from the Crisis Fund, a recipient must: Be a member in good standing of the Ohio Quarter Horse Association for at least one year, or Be involved with the All-American Quarter Horse Congress. The Board of Directors, among other factors, takes the following into consideration when awarding assistance: 1. Severity of the hardship, disaster or illness 2. Recipient’s family income, assets and liabilities and size of family 3. Availability of insurance 4. Other sources of income or support 5. Involvement
