In Memory of Dr. Connie Brown

OQHA is deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Connie Brown, DVM. Connie was a past OQHA Queen and the wife of Bruce Brown, family friends of the Association.

Dr. Connie Brown DVM, 71, wife of Bruce Brown, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 15, 2025. 

Born on July 22, 1953 to the late Coney and Jewel Cornett, Connie was raised in Greenville, Ohio where her lifelong love of animals was sparked. She graduated from The Ohio State University with her veterinary degree and spent her career in private practice.

She was a successful and hardworking horsewoman through her final days, but her most cherished roles were those of devoted mother and grandmother. Known for her smile, selflessness and positive nature, she was the heart and soul of her close knit family and the shining light at every gathering.

In addition to her husband of 46 years, Connie is survived by her children, Holly Powell (Travis), Nicholasville, Heather Johnson (Patrick), Nicholasville, and Sarah Brown, Versailles; her sister, Carolyn Luft, Versailles; her brother, Bill Cornett (Nadine), FL; and her grandchildren, Lucy Powell, Lily Powell, Shelby Johnson, and Stella Johnson.  

Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 5:00pm until 7:00pm on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd. Private burial for Connie has taken place at Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Woodford County Humane Society.
