Cool Weather, Warm Company at the OQHA Annual Picnic

It may have been a chilly day by Ohio summer standards, but that didn’t stop OQHA members from gathering for the association’s annual picnic, generously hosted once again by J.L. and Penny Robinson of Bellefontaine!

A longtime favorite tradition, the OQHA picnic welcomed nearly 100 members, families, and friends for an evening filled with great food, fellowship, and fun. Guests enjoyed a delicious meal from Boo’s Kitchen of Delaware, making for the perfect setting to catch up and celebrate another busy season.

Following dinner, members of the Ohio Quarter Horse Youth Association met to discuss plans for the remainder of the summer, including their upcoming trip to Oklahoma City for the AQHYA World Show. The group also continued promoting their golf cart raffle fundraiser, which helps support youth activities and opportunities throughout the year (purchase your ticket for the raffle here).
The OQHA Board of Directors also held its meeting during the evening. Director Cynthia Bauman presented President Kelli Diaz and the board with a $2,000 donation on behalf of OQHA affiliate Creek Side Horse Park. The contribution reflects another successful OQHA All Breed Trail Ride and Mt Trail Challenge event, which proudly celebrated its 19th year in 2026.

Looking ahead, the next OQHA and OQHYA board meetings are scheduled for August 31, 2026, at the OQHA office in Columbus.
Before then, the Ohio Quarter Horse Foundation will host its annual Congress Cup Golf Outing on Monday, July 13, at Rattlesnake Ridge Golf Course. Whether you register a team or become a sponsor, your support helps fund youth scholarships and future opportunities for OQHA members (register or become a sponsor here).
OQHA points have now been updated through June 23 and are available for members to review here.
Best of luck to all OQHA members as the show season continues—we look forward to seeing what the rest of the year has in store!
