2024 Congress Cup: Most Successful Yet
With perfect weather, a beautiful course, and a worthy cause, the 4th annual Congress Cup charity golf outing was one for the books as participants "Battled for the Buckle."
Organized by the Ohio Quarter Horse Foundation and held at Rattlesnake Ridge Golf Club in Sunbury, Ohio, the event not only provided a world-class experience, but also served as a means to generate funds for the annual Foundation scholarships.
Rattlesnake Ridge provided the ideal backdrop for the day; a private course, renowned for its gorgeous landscapes and exceptional amenities. The outing saw a total of 20 registered teams and generous sponsorship support, both setting new records for the Congress Cup. OQHF also welcomed special guests Ohio Department of Agriculture Director Brian Baldridge and newly-named Ohio Expo Center Executive Director Adam Heffron, who both shared remarks during the awards presentation.
The team of Randy Wilson, Tim McHugh, Kyle Gardner, and Sean Kenily took home this year's prize: four custom Congress Cup Champion belt buckles from Montana Silversmiths. Recognizing individual competition winners, congratulations go out to the winner of the Closest to Pin, Dan Lassak; Longest Drive, Austin Garcia; and Longest Putt, Malek Masri. Winning the skins competition was the Wilson Team, Yoder Team, and SP Parking Team.
The Congress Cup's overarching goal of supporting the Ohio Quarter Horse Youth members is what drives organizers, sponsors, and players alike. This year's event raised $20,000 and will provide scholarships to many OQHYA members pursuing degrees in higher education in the upcoming year.
OQHA and its Foundation would like to thank all of the players and sponsors for their efforts in making this year's Congress Cup one to remember.
