My Year So Far...

July 6, 2016

I cannot believe that the year is already half over and that summer is upon us. I have been extremely fortunate to be able to travel to the Ohio Equine Affaire and SOQHA’s Madness. Both of which were wonderful events where I made lifelong memories.

The Equine Affaire is something that I have attended numerous times growing up…this year I got to see the event in a whole different light. When I first arrived and was walking around, I somewhat forgot that I may have stood out in my sparkling sash and crown. Spectators all around gazed and smiled and I soon realized that I was in for a treat. To me, I am just your average girl who loves horses and has been very blessed. To others around me, I was the “Belle of the ball.” From little children in strollers, to cute old men wandering, I had the opportunity to meet many wonderful people. Some stopped to visit and others wanted to take pictures. I even got the chance to take pictures on a tractor and a lawn mower for a company to use as advertisement! I met junior princesses from many different states and met many young girls who had questions on how they could become the Ohio Queen. This right here is a huge part of why I wanted to be the Ohio Queen in the first place! One of my goals is to raise awareness of what our association is about and get more people involved! Another one of my favorite parts of the entire Equine Affair was getting to meet the sweetest guys from Starlight Enterprises, Inc. This is a program that is close to my heart and near my hometown. I could go on and on forever about the two wonderful days that I spent at this event.

My next adventure lead me to the SOQHA Madness, and boy was it ever! I haven’t seen a horse show this big in a very long time and it was ran so smooth and the prizes and gifts that were handed out were unbelievable! I was fortunate enough to attend this event with the all around beautiful, Congress Queen, Miss Lauren Harrington. Together we got to walk around the show and handout prizes while getting to meet exhibitors and wish them luck. We also had the opportunity to hand out awards for the big money pleasure classes and visit with people. My favorite part about this show was the live and silent auctions held for, Congress Champ, Miss Allie Paul. The event brought in part of the $35,000 raised by the horse show community. Now I don’t know about y’all, but that gives me goose bumps! That is what our horse show family is all about and I am so fortunate to be able to represent a small part of it! I very much appreciate SOQHA welcoming me to their show with open arms.

As I said earlier, I could go on and on about my experiences so far but I will spare y’all and let you know where I am headed next. I am excited to be able to attend the OAQHA’s very own, Buckeye Classic and Little Buckeye, as well as their golf outing (which I’ve heard can get rowdy!) I cannot wait to visit with everyone and meet whoever comes my way! If you see me, please come and introduce yourself! I am sure that I will have new details after these events, before I head off to the AQHYA Youth World and the NSBA World Show.
Until then, you can find me studying for the infamous Congress Queen test that will be here before we know it! As I have said before, I am so blessed to represent the greatest association in the country, the Ohio Quarter Horse Association and the journey has been amazing so far. Thank y’all for the support and God bless!
