AMERICAN QUARTER HORSE ASSOCIATION YOUTH WORLD SHOW UPDATE

The tentative schedule for the 2020 Built Ford Tough AQHYA World Championship Show is now available online. View the tentative schedule here. The schedule includes Level 3, Adequan® Level 2 and 13-&-Under Level 3 core classes, plus the addition of Nutrena Level 1 youth classes, which were added to the Ford Youth World because the 2020 Nutrena AQHA Level 1 Championships and AQHA Cattle Level 1 Championships were cancelled.

Due to the rapidly evolving pandemic worldwide, the AQHA Executive Committee waived qualification for the 2020 Ford Youth World earlier this spring. The Ford Youth World is scheduled for July 29 - August 8 at the OKC Fairgrounds in Oklahoma City and features the world’s top youth riders and their American Quarter Horses. The Ford Youth World will be held, pending local, state and federal government mandates.

The safety of AQHA exhibitors, trainers, families, spectators and staff is the Association’s top priority. AQHA staff will continue to monitor coronavirus (COVID-19) developments leading up to the 2020 Ford Youth World. The Association will be in direct contact with exhibitors if any changes are made to this show. Visit www.aqha.com/youthworld for the most up-to-date information on the Ford Youth World.

Entry information will be released in early June. The entry process for the 2020 Ford Youth World will remain with the youth advisers, as it has been in previous years. AQHYA exhibitors interested in competing at the Ford Youth World will continue to work through their respective adviser to enter and must meet affiliate requirements to compete. View the list of affiliate youth advisers. Contact your youth adviser for more details on the Ford Youth World requirements and newly added online entry options.

Youth exhibitors entering only Nutrena Level 1 classes will not be required to work through a youth adviser. Nutrena Level 1-specific entry forms will also be available in early June at www.aqha.com/youthworld.

Read for more details about the waived qualification, including information regarding performance halter classes.

For more information on the Ford Youth World, visit www.aqha.com/youthworld.

The American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) Executive Committee has waived qualification for the Built Ford Tough AQHYA World Championship Show scheduled July 30 - August 8 in Oklahoma City.  All other AQHA rules and AQHA Youth World Show requirements remain in place.

The entry process for the 2020 Built Ford Tough AQHYA World Championship Show will remain with the Ohio Quarter Horse Youth Association (OQHYA) Youth Advisor as it has been in previous years. AQHYA exhibitors interested in competing at the Ford Youth World will continue to work through the OQHYA Youth Advisor to enter and must meet Ohio Quarter Horse Association (OQHA) requirements to compete.

AQHA has also simplified the hardship application.  Please find the AQHYA World Championship Show Change of Affiliation online here. This replaces the former hardship application. It allows AQHYA members to change the affiliate they represent at the Youth World Show. The primary focus of the new process is ensuring both the affiliate of residence and the requested affiliate agree to the member’s request for a change of affiliation. Their agreement will be signified by the signature of the youth advisers.

The AQHYA World Championship Show Change of Affiliation Form must be submitted to the AQHA Youth Department by May 15, 2020. Forms must be complete; incomplete forms may not be accepted. Forms must be submitted via email to youth@aqha.org. It is the member’s responsibility to ensure the completed form is received by AQHA by the deadline.

OHIO QUARTER HORSE ASSOCIATION YOUTH WORLD SHOW UPDATE

OQHA welcomes all AQHYA exhibitors to participate in the 2020 Built Ford Tough AQHYA World Championship Show.  Please be advised that there are OQHA requirements in order to participate at the Ford Youth World Show which are detailed below.

The OQHA Handbook allows for OQHA to provide financial support to those youth who have met certain requirements. These requirements are detailed below. Failure to meet the financial support requirements does not prohibit you from participating in the Ford Youth World Show. It simply means that those costs will become an exhibitor out-of-pocket cost. Please note that the show requirements for state qualifications have been waived given the availability of shows due to the COVID 19 pandemic.

In midst of the COVID 19 pandemic, OQHA will make a decision, at a later date, regarding the level, if any, financial support to be provided.

Below is a table that details the requirements for financial support, if available and the OQHA requirements in order to compete in the 2020 Built Ford Tough AQHYA World Championship Show.
