Thinking of trying for the World Show or
Congress Youth Team?
Here’s what you need to know:

2008 AQHYA World Show Team Information
There are two ways that OQHYA members can compete to qualify for the 2008 AQHYA World Championship Show Team. The national qualifying period for the 2008 AQHYA World Championship Show began May 1, 2007, and will run through April 30, 2008. Those youth who earn the required number of AQHA points during the period can qualify nationally for a spot on the team.

In addition to nationally qualifying, OQHYA members also have the opportunity to earn one of four spots on the 2008 OQHYA World Show Team in each event by qualifying in-state. Points from a youth’s ten best shows will be counted from competition during the point period of the Saturday and Sunday of the SOQHA Winter Circuit in March through May 31, 2008.

All OQHYA Youth Team members must attend a minimum of two OQHYA meetings between January 1 and July 1 in order to receive the team’s stipend to assist with their expenses.

The 2008 AQHYA World Championship Show will be held in August in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

2008 Congress NYATT Team Information
OQHYA members are welcome to compete for a position on Ohio’s 2008 Congress National Youth Activity Team Tournament team.

Youth can compete at OQHA-approved shows during the point period of the Saturday and Sunday of the SOQHA Winter Circuit in March through July 31. Each youth’s ten best shows during the qualifying period will count toward their team points.

Participating youth team members may show in only one NYATT event, which include Showmanship, Horsemanship, Western Pleasure, Reining, Hunter Under Saddle and Barrel Racing.

Several regional affiliate Quarter Horse associations also sponsor NYATT teams. Be sure to check with your affiliate for team requirements.

The 2008 Congress NYATT tournament is tentatively scheduled for Monday, October 20.
