Greetings Cris and the members of the Ohio Amateur Quarter Horse Association!
Thank you so much for the lovely and unexpected care package. The
hygiene items were timely and necessary and the goodies.... mmmmm! I must force myself to be as generous as you all and share the calories with my colleagues.
I'm probably going to mis-spell some names so I apologize in advance but to:
Laura Salone
Katie Stolte
Jennifer
Kelly (thanks for those prayers!)
Sue Graves
Abby Polend
Libby Trucco
Libby Clark
Betty Clark
LuAnne Coleman
...a great big THANK-YOU! Regardless of the contents of the care package, just knowing that folks back home are thinking about us and have taken the time to let us know is priceless. I'm not sure I know the mission of the Quarter Horse association but I do know the members of your organization are awesome!
Thanks again!
Best Regards,

Dear OAQHA,
How pleasantly surprised I was to come to work on Easter Sunday to find your package on my desk. I'm the proud father of five, and the youngest has long since helped fill Easter baskets for young cousins. I'm going to have to tell them there really IS an Easter Bunny! You filled that box with lots of fun and tasty things, but the most impressive thing is the love and respect you showed to your country, and yes to your military, by taking the time to do it. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I truly appreciate your heartfelt words and want you to know that I am honored to serve our country as we strive to protect the liberty, homes, and families of America, along with the added benefit of doing so for so many other millions of people as well. Let there be no doubt, if we don't fight this kind of radicalism over here, we will be fighting it on our own shores…in fact, we yet may do so anyway, but I'd at least rather try and win NOW, over HERE.
I speak here only for myself, not for the military, and I hope this is taken as heartfelt as your comments were. I am happy to report we have momentum…we need to maintain it. You can help by speaking out for support within your communities and especially to your political representatives. It would be a catastrophy if Congress once again snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, simply for political power. The same three culprits seem to be driving the "we must lose" mentality as did so three decades ago…the media, hollywood, and the left. A free, stable Iraq could be a long time friend like South Korea and Japan…or a premature departure could lead to Cambodia like killing fields.
I believe that support for us is expressed loudest by support for our mission.
I must end with a note about two of my daughters…they will be ecstatic to hear I received a care package from the Ohio Amateur Quarter Horse Association. They are not just horse lovers, they are horse CRAZY!!!!! We live in Germany...on a horse farm. They take lessons and WISH dad (yes, I'm the goat) would buy them their own horse! Honestly, I'd love to, and almost did during our last assignment in Alaska. I have a good friend there who is one of the major horse ladies in Alaska…Karol Kohlemainen. In the military, though, it is SO hard to have even a dog, let alone a horse. As I approach retirement, I may have the chance to fulfill their dreams and buy a horse. Maybe I'll seek your advice as well when that time comes, with your permission of course.
May your lives be filled with hope and success.
Very Sincerely,
David A Jorgensen, Lt Col, USAF
PS…I'm including my home e-mail address should you wish to correspond in the future…I'll only be deployed for a couple more months, then back to the horse lovers!
Dear OAQHA,
We just want to thank you for the great work you are doing in support of our troops.
As this war continues on, our efforts on the homefront should continue on as well.
Morale is a crucial component for our troops and our efforts and signs of support from the homefront bolster morale for those fighting to protect our freedoms.
We commend OAQHA for doing their part!
