The association’s Quarter Horse Breeders Incentive Fund (OQHBIF) program replaces the former OQHA Futurity show.

OQHA provides $35,000 in OQHBIF money to participating members. There is no entry fee, however members must submit an entry form AND a copy of their registration papers to the OQHA office by August 31. Please note that entries WILL NOT be accepted at any of the three regional futurities. Click here to download the OQHBIF Entry Form (PDF file).

• To be eligible, horses must be the product of an Ohio-owned stallion or an Ohio-owned mare.

• Registration papers AND entry form are required to be submitted to the OQHA office only in the year the horse will be exhibited. (Horses are not required to be nominated as weanlings and sustained over multiple years.)

• OQHBIF money will be determined by results from the Eastern Ohio, Northern Ohio and Southern Ohio Quarter Horse Association Futurities. Participating horses will receive points based on the results of each futurity. (Futurity judges will be instructed to place every horse in each futurity class to a maximum of 20 horses.) The total number of points earned in the program will then be divided by the $35,000 purse to determine a per point value. Incentive fund checks have been distributed. First place winners in each class will be recognized at the OQHA Awards Banquet.

• Participants in the OQHBIF must enter the EOQHA, NOQHA and/or SOQHA futurities classes to participate. All three shows have revised their show bills to include all classes in the program. OQHBIF participants are not required to participate in all three futurities, but can earn points at one, two or all three shows toward their OQHBIF earnings.

Registration papers AND entry forms for horses to be enrolled in the OQHBIF program should be submitted to OQHA IF Secretary Sherry Kavanagh at the OQHA office no later than August 31. For additional information, contact Kavanagh at 740-943-2346, ext. 122, or sherry@columbus.rr.com.
