OMIQHA Warm Up Show
By Samantha Armbruster
Ahhh, the first show of the year. Not only is everyone ready to get out and see all of their horse show friends again, but it is also a great opportunity to test the waters and find out what works and what needs improvement before the summer show season begins. The Ohio Michigan Indiana Quarter Horse Association put on the very first Warm-Up Show that was a two-day event at Eden Park Equestrian Complex in Sunbury, Ohio on April 8th and 9th. Class sizes were large with many novices and good numbers in the Youth and Amateur classes as well.
This new show gave exhibitors the chance to show in every class both days, offering the opportunity to get some extra practice in. Though the numbers were impressive, the show did not run late and was finished with plenty of daylight remaining. Some of the fun events that the show hosted included a pancake breakfast, a free pizza dinner as well as a silent action benefitting the OMIQHA Queen, Ms. Kate Clapp.
All in all, OMIQHA is a great horse show host because not only is there a relaxed atmosphere, but exhibitors and board members are kind, positive and encouraging. The Warm-Up Show could not have been made possible without the great efforts of the entire OMIQHA officers and volunteers that worked tirelessly to make things run smoothly. Be sure to mark your calendars for the next OMI show, which will be held June 25th and 26th in Findlay, Ohio.
