The 2011 Built Ford Tough AQHYA World Show was held August 5-13 at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The Ohio Quarter Horse Association sent 56 youth and 76 horses to compete in 33 different events. Ohio Youth came home with four world champions, two reserve world champions and numerous top ten placings.

OQHYA had an amazing day on Thursday, August 11th. Brianna Tamulewicz of Westerville and Dark Jasmine were crowned world champions in Western Pleasure out of 128 entries at the 2011 Built Ford Tough AQHYA World Show, just two classes after her teammate, Charley Thiel, won the Hunter Under Saddle. Tamulewicz’s mount is no stranger to the winners circle, having won a world championship in Junior Western Pleasure last year and taking home two All American Quarter Horse Congress titles as well. This, however was Tamulewicz’s first world championship.

The only duo from Ohio in the finals of the 2011 Built Ford Tough AQHYA World Show Hunter Under Saddle took home the gold. Charley Thiel and Tophat and Tails from Dublin, Ohio were crowed world champions on Thursday, August 11th. After winning the Youth Hunter Under Saddle (12-14) at the 2010 All American Quarter Horse Congress, this is just further feather in this talented pairs cap.

Ohio Wins First World Championship at 2011 Youth World Show

In the second class at the 2011 Built Ford Tough AQHYA World Show, the Ohio Quarter Horse Youth Association’s first world champion was crowned. Rachel Kolb of Lebanon and her 2005 gelding Remarkable Can came out on top of the 83 entries in the class, placing first under three judges.

Last year the Ohio youth raffled off a "Congress Package" and made over $4,500, however the participation from the youth was very poor. This year's raffle is designed to reward those that want to participate. Because we have members that don't show, have just started showing, or will not be competing at the Youth World or Congress this year, the rewards for selling tickets will appeal to everyone.
