AQHA Hall of Fame Art Contest
American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum presents the “Two Bits” for Your Brain Art Contest and Show
The American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum will be accepting entries for its 2011 “Two Bits” for Your Brain AQHYA Art Contest and Show. The contest is open to students in grades 6 through 12. The deadline to enter is November 23rd, 2011.
Winners in each grade category will receive an award. Entries may be submitted in one of two categories, based on school grade.
Category I includes grades 6-8. Category II is for grades 9-12. This year’s theme is “Horses of the Old Wild West” Check out the AQHA website at www.aqha.com, the Hall of Fame website at www.quarterhorsemuseum.com, or email Courtney Martin, Manager of Youth, at cmartin@aqha.org if you need additional information on the American Quarter Horse in order to begin compositions.
Entries may be in a medium of the artist's choice (oil, water color, pastels, pencil, pen and ink, charcoal, photography, etc.). Submissions may be mounted on a piece of black foam core board. No framed pieces will be accepted. Composition must be original. Photographs may be used for reference, but artwork determined to have been traced or copied from an existing photograph or work of art will be disqualified. This year’s show will be juried and the number of pieces selected will be based on entries received. Pieces must adhere to these guidelines.
Entries must arrive at the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum by 5:00 p.m. November 23, 2011, and must be accompanied by a brief statement attached to the back of the piece, signed by the student's parent, guardian, or teacher attesting to the originality of the work and verifying the artist's grade level as of September 2011. In addition, the artist's name, age, home address, phone number, school and grade must be printed on the back of the entry. Entries will be judged on effort, creativity, composition and theme.
This year’s show will be judged by representatives of the AQHA staff.

Entries will be returned by mail if accompanied by a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Otherwise, exhibitors can pick up their pieces between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. January 3, 2012 through January 10, 2012 at the museum. Any pieces left at the museum will be discarded. The Hall of Fame assumes no responsibility for lost or damaged artwork, and reserves all rights to reproduce entries.
