What are these crazy initials - NYATT?
NYATT stands for National Youth Activity Team Tournament. NYATT is a tournament for state and regional Quarter Horse youth teams to participate at the Congress in friendly competition. NYATT events at the Congress are not AQHA-approved.
The Congress National Youth Activity Team Tournament is organized to allow two exhibitors per team to compete in:
showmanship,
horsemanship,
western pleasure,
reining,
hunter under saddle
and barrel racing.
The top ten places in each event receive awards and points. First place receives ten points, second place nine points and so on. The top six overall teams received tournament trophies; the winners of each class received awards, and the top ten youths in each event received medallions.
Ties are broken according to three tie-breaker rules:
1) the team placing in the largest number of events
2) the team with the highest number of class wins, seconds, etc., and
3) the fastest time between the tied teams in the NYATT barrel racing.

2008 Congress Entry Information -
NYATT
a. ENTRIES MUST BE MADE BY THE TEAM ADVISOR ONLY on a separate TEAM TOURNAMENT ENTRY FORM.
b. Youth should contact their state, provincial or regional Quarter Horse association’s youth advisor regarding entry fees and additional team requirement information.
c. Entries are due August 25.
d. Only contestants 18 years of age and younger, as of January 1, that are sponsored by an association affiliated with the American Quarter Horse Association and/or recognized by the NYATT Committee, are eligible to show in NYATT events. Teams must consist of a minimum of four team members.
