2007 Congress News Release

See the Fastest Quarter Mile on Four Hooves at the 2007 All American Quarter Horse Congress

See the fastest quarter mile on four hooves during the 41st annual All American Quarter Horse Congress Quarter Horse races, to be held in conjunction with the show. Three races will be featured, the Congress Futurity for 2-year-old mounts, Derby for 3-year-old horses and Maturity for four-year-olds and older.

The short quarter-mile distance, combined with four hooves, lightning-quick speed and beauty and athleticism, led to many exciting events that trace back to colonial times. Today's Quarter Horse races, however, compete for more than just bragging rights, as owners and jockeys run for cold hard cash and national titles.

Trials for all three races will be held on Monday, October 15, at Beulah Park race track, a short 12 miles from the Ohio Expo Center grounds. Finals for the three races will be held on Saturday, October 27, also at Beulah Park. Pari-mutual wagering is available on trials and finals of all races.

The All American Quarter Horse Congress is sponsored annually by the Ohio Quarter Horse Association (OQHA). OQHA is a state Quarter Horse association with 2,000 members and is a state affiliate of the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA).  Located in Richwood, Ohio, OQHA’s mission is to promote the registered American Quarter Horse. OQHA sponsors state year-end awards, a breeders incentive program and a youth program that supports two youth teams and provides eight scholarships. OQHA also supports state 4-H and FFA programs as
well as equine research and education. OQHA created the All American Quarter Horse Congress in 1967.
