2007 Congress News
Chuck Briggs and Investment Hunter Continue Their Winning Ways
by Carly Williams
With a stroke of good luck and a lot of talent, Chuck Briggs and Investment Hunter have surpassed the odds, winning the Junior Hunter Hack in 2006 and the Senior Hunter Hack at the 2007 Congress.
“This horse has exceptional form over the jumps. He really looks good and tries with each jump,” Briggs said. “He is also very consistent on the rail, which makes him stand out in Hunter Hack.”
Briggs has had “Hunter” in training for over three years, and has brought him to the Congress twice with a winning record. In 2006, Investment Hunter showed up as a five-year-old to win the Junior Hunter Hack with Briggs piloting him over the fences. This year, Briggs continued the pattern when he and Investment Hunter won Senior Hunter Hack on Monday, October 15.
Even though Investment Hunter had one Congress Championship under his belt, Briggs said he had no expectations coming to this year’s Congress. “You always want to do well at the Congress, but I don’t expect anything coming to any horse show. You never know what can happen.”
Briggs may not have had any expectations coming into the Congress, but he had plenty of reasons to think Investment Hunter should excel. He was named the 2006 AQHA High Point Champion for the year in Hunter Hack, Green Working Hunter and Working Hunter. He is also leading Hunter Hack this year.
Although Hunter has already proven his Congress skills, Briggs will guide him along the Senior Hunter Under Saddle on Tuesday, October 23.
