2017 OQHA Queen - Kelsey Dorka

From Chardon, Ohio, Kelsey Dorka graduated of The University of Toledo College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences with a Bachelor of Science and Pharmaceutical Sciences. She is currently working towards her Master of Science in Health Outcomes and Socioeconomic Sciences.

Kelsey has been active in the quarter horse industry since her first introduction to the All American Quarter Horse Congress at the age of 13. She began riding lessons at the age of nine, where she was able to compete in Dressage shows and became heavily involved in 4-H and other local horse affiliations. She has since participated in All-Around events at numerous quarter horse shows throughout the state of Ohio, including the All American Quarter Horse Congress in 2013 and 2014. She enjoys sharing her passion of the quarter horse with her two younger sisters.

While attending school, she works in the Pharmaceutical Care and Outcomes Research Lab as a teaching assistant and a graduate research assistant. She is also a Senior Certified Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens Pharmacy, and teaches American Society of Health-System Pharmacists accredited pharmacy technician training courses for the twelve Toledo-area stores.

Kelsey is also involved in the Fulton County Saddle Club, which hosts an OQHA-approved point show in June of each year. She also plans to become involved in the surrounding counties 4-H groups as a guest speaker and clinician.
